Yelp for Business App App Reviews

Yelp is the worst! They decide what reviews are relevant and which ones are not! They leave all the untrue poor reviews up but the good/5 star reviews disappear, unbelievable! How dare they remove an excellent review because they dont feel its relevant to the business! Dont pay for Yelp services and dont follow them.

I dont know how this place can run an app like this. People are not critics. Critics are critics. Yelp is awful.

Yelp is unfair in their assessment of which reviews are recommended and which are not recommended. ORM companies are also upset with Yelps hidden review system. A lot of accusations on whether advertising with them changes which reviews are hidden from view or not. I even had a customer write a reply on behalf of me and post it. I recommended yelp remove it as I did not write the reply and they refused. If none of us advertise with them, maybe they will change and recognize all businesses and reviews equally and give us all a fair assessment based on how we are doing.

Yelp actively try to sabotage your reputation by sabotaging your reviews. They systematically remove positive reviews and keep negative ones till u get with their marketing team with a paid campaign..

Even if you sign up and pay, you still get screwed. There should be a class action lawsuit against Yelp for their unethical practices. #yelpsucks #boycottyelp They only call when they want your money. If you need help, forget it! Lots of fake reviews were (and are) being left by an ex employee, who was outed for doing illegal things. These fake reviews are vulgar, referencing things only an ex employee would know, and personally attacking the business owners family by name. Yelp leaves them up because "they reflect a personal experience" even though its supposed to be not allowed for someone affiliated with the business to leave a review. And it supposedly is not okay to personally attack someone. Or use vulgar words. Yet the reviews stay. Meanwhile, my legitimate customers who come in regularly, leave reviews for other businesses, leave me positive reviews but get tossed to "not recommended." Why is that? Theyve left dozens of other reviews and have Yelp friends on the app. Those are the ones getting tossed? I have been trying to cancel for weeks, but no return call. We also were told we "arent allowed to ask our customers to leave reviews or feedback." I only get emails and calls they want MORE MONEY because paying them 1k a month for a use isnt enough. Last time I checked, its good business to ask and appreciate constructive criticism, BOTH good and bad. It makes a business better. Key word being constructive, not vindictive. We were told we cannot ask our customers for feedback. Also - the one time I did speak to her, my account rep was INCREDIBLY rude and disrespectful (Theresa). Yelp offers zero support until they get your money then they vanish -- and practically sabotage your business (even when you pay to advertise). I dont expect negative reviews to disappear -- but I DO expect honest and fair treatment. I do expect vulgar and obviously fake reviews to be thrown out. I expect a review that says "food and service excellent but I am only giving one star because I sat outside, and my food got cold after we were eating for twenty minutes - it came out hot." It makes no sense, other than they only truly care about Yelp. There needs to be a Yelp for Yelp! These people are criminal. Only the Mafia actually cares about the other members. Yelp just wants the money then still continues to make your life miserable.

If you want to save your business dont register with Yelp!!! I had many many happy customers writing me a good reviews but Yelp move them to the non recommend section! This is ridicules they dont even verified it with the customer and its so easy to do. But a bad review from 2012 (same employ that work back then was fired) The still keeping it as a recommended review. So any one of your business competitors can cost you a big damage to your business, because bad review Yelp keeping on top and for years!

Whatever you do try to avoid having Yelp for your business. I have a 4star business but let me tell you if you lose an employee and they have fake reviews written about your once 5star establishment and you call to let Yelp know these are fake they will tell you "do you pay to advertise on Yelp? We remove bad reviews for companies that pay to advertise in Yelp" crooked

First off I want to say that I liked Yelp in the beginning when I first downloaded the app for my business , however after receiving 5 terrific reviews from my customers they would slowly get hidden or or "not recommended " as they call it after multiple calls from yelps advertising agency, and me declining due to low funds literally my reviews would disappear. This is unfair and biased in my opinion , they dont have to make money off everyone , Im trying to make a living and by you deleting my reviews or covering them up seems unfair , if yelp believes them to be false contact my customers or message the recipient. Il go with the better business bureau next.

I just started using yelp for my accounting business a year ago. I received calls from yelp asking me to pay for their advertising and I declined. So far yelp has filtered all my 5 star reviews from clients who actually took time to write me a feedback while they were still at my office. The only one feedback yelp did not filter was a 2 star review, hence my "first and only review". That person said hes never met with me and only talked to me on the phone. I was busy and couldnt help him so he felt like he was mistreated and decided to give me a 2 star review. The 2 star was for me being nice. Its like writing a bad review for a restaurant before even tasting their food. But you give them 2 stars anyway. Thanks yelp.

Jason from Yelp called my business today out of the blue. When I complained, as many of this other reviewers on this page has said, that the one bad review was featured and all the good ones hidden, I was told that the screen the good reviews to make sure they are not from the businesss "friends." So any customers that like your business Facebook page or that you email cant post a positive review. After arguing with Jason for 20 minutes about the stupidity of this, I asked "Why did you call me?" Responded, "Good bye" and hung up on me. Interesting that you cant rate Yelp on Yelp!

We started our business last year and things took off pretty quick. We then set up a Yelp page as we assumed every business did. Immediately after setting it up we kept getting calls from "Shana" to advertise with them. We were interested at first as we had no real idea what marketing in our area was going to cost. We had her call us back a few times as we discussed and decided what to do. After pricing other marketing sources we found Yelp to be the highest cost with no guarantee for clients, so we declined to use them for ad purposes. After telling Shana that almost magically the only client review we had up yet (a 5 star review) just disappeared. It became a non recommended review, and we have come to find this is common practice for Yelp. We are going to be forging a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau as they cannot hold business hostage to their ridiculous fees anymore. Lets get the word out that Yelp is just a scam site whos only purpose is to gouge local business until they pony up their fee. Even crooked cops and mobsters have more tact when it comes to extortion, then the likes of Yelp and its employees!

I work for a Medical office and have seen several positive reviews from patients but Yelp does not post them. They only post negative reviews. Is it because our office doesnt pay to advertise? This type of business practice does not encourage businesses to advertise.

You dont need it, You dont want it. There is NO SUPPORT. There is NO Human Logic. SUPER RESTRICTIVE SIMPLY A SCAM TO PITCH AND UPSELL ADVERTISING. PURE JUNK! YELP IS A TRAP that wont let you go. I am considering a law suit against the company.

Eight positive reviews and Yelp only allows three of them. Ya ya ya I understand. The five they wont post arent from Yelp users. But they are very satisfied customers that will help my business. Im convinced Yelp does this so I have to call and beg for them to reverse their call. Oh ya... And to upsell their "services". -Yelp is a useless business tool

Yelp removes positive reviews. Since I signed up Ive had a total of three reviews, the first review was removed in a matter of days. The second review lasted a lot longer but was eventually removed. I now have my third review I wonder how long this will last? All three of my reviews have been great and positive reviews. Even though they removed my reviews due to what they call their algorithms criteria they still want me to pay to advertise with them. Now seriously, why would I pay to advertise with company that is not interested in being honest and helping small business grow?

I am a small business. I was approached by a Yelp sales agent. Hard sell. I knew I was getting myself in over my head. Listen to your inner voice. DONT DO IT! They assured me I would get calls and enough clients to pay for the fee. Nope. I maybe got 2 people and thats it. $375 a month is way too much for a small business. I have one more month to go I will never listen to another sales pitch. Stick with word of mouth. Your clients are your best advertisements.

Its becoming a trend that places that most people think are free are really not. Google is doing it too. You need to pay to be seen. Thats ok if I want to buy a billboard but not search engines, because the average person doesnt realize this. So they wont go farther than the first page or so. This is why I am giving Yelp a 3 star rating. I agree with the one star ratings however I can still be found on Yelp if I search my name, so thats something anyway.

Extremely displeased with using Yelp. I wish I had never signed up for a contract with them. Now Ill have to pay $600 just to get out of it. Yelp will remove peoples reviews on your business account because they say that the review is "not currently recommended." The app itself works fine but if Yelp is doing whatever they please to your business ads than what does having an app to run your business account really do for you? Getting a small business up and running is hard enough but when you have Yelp removing honest reviews from your site and leaving you with only one review than how are you to sell your business to potential costumers? When I am shopping around for something, I read peoples reviews to see how someone enjoyed what they were paying for. Any business owner can write up anything about themselves to make them look great but it is the reviews of others that really make a business stand out. If I see two businesses, one with 1 review and one with 100 reviews, Ill probably go towards the one with more reviews. Thanks Yelp for taking my money but not looking out for my business.

After less than 60 days I have been totally disgusted with the games that Yelp plays to the point I needed to review them. I was surprised but should have not been surprised to see they have a lot of negative reviews in regards to the same subject matter I am disgusted with. I do not need to repeat what everyone else is saying but I do agree they should be brought up in a class-action lawsuit. I am a small business that is struggling and they want to sell me services for over $300 a month but they claim will bring me in over $900 a month with no guarantees. In fact they only guarantee is they will make what they want to make, because they call all the shots.
